ASIA has Clinics for Intermediate to Advanced
Skiers and Riders
Our mission is to provide you with clinics
which help you attain your alpine skiing, snowboarding riding and teaching goals. As an
organization, we started out years ago running entry level ski
instructor certification programs. As we grew, the needs of our members
grew also. We have taken steps to accommodate these needs by adding
many exciting clinics for your interest and enjoyment.
In today’s environment we look hard for value, price, performance, quality and long term enjoyment. Our
clinics offer this to you in an organized, professional manner. Let’s
take a look at what clinics may be offered at area programs.
Alpine Clinics
Level I Alpine Teaching Certification
This 4 day clinic is for intermediate to advanced
skiers who want to improve their personal skiing or learn to teach
beginning skiing to others. Students receive four days of training in
three areas: personal skiing skills development, learning basic
teaching skills, and learning to demonstrate skiing to others. We
teach you "how to" teach others to ski, and how to explain
and demonstrate required maneuvers as a ski teacher. An on-snow
evaluation is given on the fourth day to determine if you have learned
what was presented and are qualified to help others learn to ski
safely.
Level II Alpine Teaching Certification
This 6 day clinic is for Level I Certified skiers
with one or more years of teaching experience who want to improve
their personal skiing or learn to teach students from the wedge turn
stage to open track parallel. Skiing, teaching, and demo skills are
further refined, while the technical, and mechanical aspects of skiing
are explored more fully. The skiing improvement portion is the
refinement of the skills required at this level to ski comfortably on
a variety of terrain and snow conditions. A one day on-snow evaluation
is held on the sixth day to determine if candidates have acquired the
skills to help students move toward the parallel phase of skiing.
(Offered every other season.)
Skiing Improvement
- Intermediate or Advanced
This clinic is aimed at improving your personal
skiing skills whether you are moving from blue squares to easy black
diamonds, or refining your skills on the most challenging trails on the
mountain. It's a
great way to find out about ASIA and its benefits, while tuning up

Groomed to Crud to Scraped - Intermediate or Advanced

higher speeds on that great fresh groomed snow. As the snow gets cut
and piled up, we'll work on the tactics and techniques for skiing
bumps and crud. Finally, when it's all scraped off in the middle and
icy underneath, we'll get some tips on how to hold on that shiny,
challenging afternoon surface.
Steeps, Deeps, and Trees
This exciting clinic is for those advanced skiers who want
to challenge all the glades, groomers, steeps, bumps, powder and crud
conditions the mountain has to offer, with tips along the way. Bring
your water and energy bars! There’s sure to be lots of fun. Our
coaches know all the secret stashes and special places on the mountains!
Mogul Introduction
This two day clinic gets you off the groomed terrain and acquainted with mogul skiing. Moguls skied are on
beginner to intermediate
terrain and progressions provide a fun, easy approach to
learning bump skiing. Short radius turning skills are helpful, and
will be developed and refined in this clinic. It’s lots of fun and a
great ski experience.

approaches to skiing better on steeper pitches and in varying snow
conditions. This clinic will help you capture the thrill of skiing
bumps to the fullest.
Snowboard Clinics
Snowboard Teaching Certification
Similar in focus to Alpine Teaching Certification, this
4 day clinic is for intermediate to advanced riders who want to improve
their personal riding while learning to teach beginning snowboarding
to others.
Students receive four days of training in three
areas: personal riding skills development, learning basic teaching
skills, and learning to demonstrate snowboarding to others. Candidates
must be able to link turns in control on groomed blue to easy black
diamond terrain. An on-snow evaluation is given on the fourth day to
determine if you have acquired the skills to help teach beginners to
ride safely. This clinic is offered at West Point Military Academy and
at Sno Mtn, PA.
Snowboard
Improvement
This clinic offers two days of personal riding
skills development. Candidates must be able link skidded or carved turns and
stop in control on groomed
blue to easy black terrain. This clinic is offered at West Point

today. Think about it - ASIA area programs offer two full days of
instruction by some of the top PSIA teaching professionals available
in the East, for less than the cost of a two hour private lesson.
